EVENTS

As part of the IntegrArt project, two key activities have been implemented to equip educators and staff members with innovative skills and tools for promoting social inclusion through art-based approaches: a training course and a job shadowing

Training Course in Madeira

Hosted by the partner Teatro Metaphora in June 2024 in Câmara de Lobos in Madeira (Portugal), this training course focused on the use of upcycled art and creative recycling methods as tools for social inclusion and community engagement.During this training the four participants of NGO NEST Berlin have been involved in a recycling paper workshop,  introduced to various art installations related to the environmental-artistic project “Green steps” by Teatro Metaphora, experimented hands-on activities such as creating canvas by upcycling soda cans,  and  discovered community-based street art all over the city. This experience allowed staff members to learn how to use art to foster empathy towards refugees in a process of inclusion, and it gave them new insights for integrating the concept of circular economy in future projects with and for adults with migrant backgrounds.

Job Shadowing in Sint Maarten

Hosted by the partner Caribbean Education and Culture Foundation in October 2024, in Philipsburg in Sint Maarten (The Netherlands), this experience allowed staff members to immerse themselves in the day-to-day activities of CECF and gain valuable insights into the use of street art for social inclusion. Key aspects of the job-shadowing included the observation and assimilation of effective practices for engaging local communities, the learning of innovative techniques for integrating street art into local and international initiatives aimed at active participation. Skills in project design, management and administrative processes have also been strengthened, to realize future local community projects in the field of urban regeneration.
